Central Vista: SC seeks the Agency’s response to requesting additional judges

The Supreme Court on Monday sought the Institution’s response to a request for the development of a “justice vista” in the land adjacent to the court premises to provide judges, lawyers and officials with additional work space without further adjudication of plaintiffs.

“With Central Vista, it is logical and justified to have a vista of formal judgment,” said bench benchVineet Saran and JK Maheshwari.

The Central Vista development project is a continuous construction project to renovate Parliament, central government offices, and other important buildings in the Lutyens area of New Delhi.

The court heard a petition filed by advocate Ardhendumauli Kumar Prasad, who is also the secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association, in a statement. In his application, Prasad stated that “the infrastructure available to the Supreme Court does not match the Court’s growth in terms of number of judges, place of registration, restrictions and most importantly the volume of cases.”

The applicant also sought an independent central authority under the jurisdiction of the Chief Justice of India to consider the infrastructure needs of judges across the country.

Posting the matter on Tuesday and demanding the presence of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to show the Institute’s position on the matter, the bench said: “The Supreme Court must have the appropriate institution in order to function properly. At the moment, building growth is unplanned as there is something coming from here and there. ”
