India Approves New Inter-State Transmission System to Evacuate 9 GW of Electricity from Rajasthan and Karnataka

The Government of India has approved the new Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) to evacuate 9 GW of electricity from Rajasthan and Karnataka. This scheme will be implemented through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) regime. The scheme is part of the 500 GW of RE capacity by 2030, of which 200 GW has already been connected.

Summary of the Approved Scheme

The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Power evacuation scheme will evacuate 4.5 GW of RE power from Rajasthan. 1 GW from Fatehgarh complex, 2.5 GW from Barmer complex and 1 GW from Nagaur (Merta) complex. These powers will be transferred to Mainpuri, Fatehpur and Orai districts in Uttar Pradesh. The duration of the program is two years. The cost of this scheme is approximately 12.241 million Euros.

Karnataka grid strengthening scheme will evacuate 4.5 GW of RE power from Koppal region and Gadag region. This plan will be completed by June 2027. The cost of the program is about 1.354 million euros.
