Dr Jitendra Singh Launches AI-Supported Telemedicine Mobile Clinic “Aarogya-Doctors on Wheels”

Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir, January 15, 2024, Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, launched the “Aarogya-Doctors on Wheels” telemedicine mobile clinic in the remote hilly areas of Ramnagar region in Udhampur district, Jammu & Kashmir. This state-of-the-art, AI-supported Telemedicine Mobile Clinic aims to provide healthcare facilities in areas where such services are either unavailable or inadequately available.

The upgraded Tele Clinic is driven by Artificial Intelligence and is designed to function in far-flung regions. Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted that “Aarogya” utilizes the latest methodology, allowing patients to describe their illness or complaint in their native language. The AI-driven system comprehends the language and responds to the patient in the same language.

Explaining the process, Dr. Jitendra Singh mentioned that the patient is then connected to leading super specialists in the country, as the telemedicine hospital has collaborations with some of the top healthcare institutions. The patient’s entire body profile and investigations are conducted, and within 40 to 50 minutes, a prescription is provided. Importantly, the treatment is offered free of cost to the patient.

Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been dedicated to providing healthcare facilities to the remotest parts of the country, leveraging the latest technological advancements. The launch of “Aarogya-Doctors on Wheels” is in line with this commitment.

The initial phase of this initiative was implemented in the Gandoh area of district Doda, followed by phases in Zero Line villages along the International Border and the upper reaches of Bilawar. The upcoming fourth phase, scheduled in the next few months, will cover Dudu Basantgarh in the upper reaches of the Ramnagar block of Udhampur.

Dr. Jitendra Singh urged local residents to make use of this facility, emphasizing that this super-speciality hospital on wheels brings doctors to their doorsteps. The initiative aligns with the government’s efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility in remote and underserved areas, showcasing the potential of AI in delivering medical services.
