Union Minister Narayan Rane Criticizes Shankaracharyas Over Ram Temple Blessings

Union Minister Narayan Rane stirred controversy by suggesting that Shankaracharyas should bless the Ram Temple instead of criticizing it. Rane accused the spiritual leaders of viewing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP through a “political prism” and emphasized that the temple is a religious, not political, endeavor. He challenged the Shankaracharyas to specify their contributions to Hinduism, asserting that the temple construction is a result of the efforts of Modi and the BJP.

Rane’s comments were met with criticism from Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe, who accused him of insulting the Hindu religion and its spiritual leaders. Londhe called on the BJP to respond to Rane’s remarks, stating that the minister lacks sufficient knowledge about Hinduism.

The controversy comes amid reports that two out of four Shankaracharyas have welcomed the upcoming consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple but will not attend the event on January 22. The opposition has targeted the BJP over the Shankaracharyas’ decision not to attend the ceremony, leading to a political discourse on the religious significance of the temple construction.
