IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Dhaka Due to Fog, Passengers Express Frustration

An IndiGo flight traveling from Mumbai to Guwahati was forced to make an emergency landing in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Saturday due to dense fog, leading to frustration among passengers. The flight, 6E 5319, was unable to land at the Guwahati airport because of low visibility, diverting to Dhaka around 4 am.

Former Mumbai Youth Congress chief Suraj Singh Thakur, who was on the diverted flight, shared his experience on social media. In a post on X, he stated, “I took IndiGo6E flight 6E 5319 from Mumbai to Guwahati. But due to dense fog, the flight couldn’t land in Guwahati. Instead, it landed in Dhaka.” Thakur added that all passengers had crossed the international border without their passports.

The frustration among passengers escalated as they remained inside the plane for an extended period. Thakur mentioned being stuck inside the aircraft for nine hours and expressed uncertainty about reaching Guwahati and then traveling to Imphal for the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

Another passenger took to X, stating that 178 passengers had been waiting for over four hours for another crew to fly back to their destination. “IndiGo6E stuck inside the aircraft with 178 passengers for 9 hours now, flying 6E 5319 from Mumbai to Guwahati. We made a landing in Dhaka around 4 am because of lower visibility in the North East. We have been waiting for another crew for 4 hours now, can we please expedite?” the passenger wrote.

In response to the concerns raised on social media, IndiGo acknowledged the inconvenience caused to passengers. The airline attributed the diversion to bad weather conditions and assured passengers that its team was working to assist them to the best of their capabilities. However, IndiGo did not provide a specific timeline for the departure from the Bangladesh capital.

The incident highlights the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions and the impact on air travel schedules, leading to disruptions and frustrations among passengers.
