Volcanic Eruption in Indonesia’s Marapi Claims 22 Lives; Search for Missing Person Continues

The eruption of Indonesia’s Marapi volcano has resulted in 22 confirmed deaths, with one person still missing, according to the West Sumatra rescue agency leading the operations. Around 200 rescuers are set to resume search operations on Wednesday. Marapi is among the 127 active volcanoes in Indonesia, and the eruption caught 75 climbers on the volcano.

Rescuers are working to evacuate the deceased individuals from the volcano’s peak. The tragedy follows the eruption of Mount Semeru in Indonesia earlier this year, highlighting the volcanic activity in the region and its impact on local communities.
