After a strong win against WI, Australia captain Meg Lanning praises the openers

Wellington [New Zealand]: On Wednesday, Australia captain Meg Lanning commended openers Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes for their outstanding efforts, as Australia defeated West Indies by 157 runs to advance to the final of the current ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022.

In a rain-shortened encounter that was eventually reduced to 45 overs, Healy hammered 129 from 107 balls and Haynes struck 85 from 100 deliveries as the openers put up 216 runs for the first wicket to help Australia reach 305/3.

“I think Healy and Haynes did a great job setting it up for us. West Indies bowled quite effectively in the first few overs. I think we did a great job planning it and laying the groundwork. We believed that the first hour was crucial. On a new wicket, we’ve played here a few times “In a post-match presentation, Meg Lanning stated.

“Healy and Haynes performed fantastically, leaving a lot of balls on the ground, which is crucial in these conditions. We frequently discuss how to get the most out of our hitting lineup, and today that meant moving her (Gardner) up the order “Lanning stated.

“It was true (almost the perfect game). You have to savour the occasion when you win a semifinal, but we were really strong in all areas. To be honest, we don’t care who we play; both teams are very strong, and we’ll be watching the game tomorrow “She went on.

West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor scored 48 runs on her lone hand in the chase for 306, while Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews both scored 34 runs at the top of the order. However, as Australia sailed home, they received little help from others.
