The initiative is driven by technology and aims to fulfill the aspirations of India’s youth by providing equitable access and contributing to the development of the nation across various government sectors.

Youth Development Platform: MY Bharat will act as a whole-of-government platform for youth development, focusing on providing resources and opportunities to young people. Youth Beneficiaries: MY Bharat will target youth in the age group of 15-29 years, in accordance with the definition of ‘youth’ outlined in the National Youth Policy. For specific program components designed for adolescents, beneficiaries will be in the age group of 10-19 years.

Objectives: The establishment of MY Bharat aims to achieve several objectives, including improving leadership skills among the youth, making them social innovators and community leaders. It also focuses on youth-led development and encourages young people to actively participate in and drive the development process.

Additionally, it will facilitate better coordination between youth aspirations and community needs, enhance the efficiency of existing youth programs, serve as a one-stop shop for young people and ministries, create a centralized youth database, improve two-way communication between youth and government initiatives, and ensure accessibility by establishing a physical ecosystem.

Background: The decision to create MY Bharat is in response to the rapidly changing world, characterized by high-speed communication, social media, digital opportunities, and emerging technologies. The initiative is guided by the principles of a ‘Whole of Government Approach’ to establish a comprehensive mechanism for engaging and empowering youth.

The establishment of MY Bharat reflects the Indian government’s commitment to providing young people with the tools and opportunities they need to  in an evolving world and contribute to the development and progress of the nation.
