The Gujarat Titans have launched their hymn ‘Aava De’ ahead of their IPL 2022 debut. The song, composed by Dub Sharma and sung by Gujarati folk singer Aditya Gadhvi, blends Gujarati culture with the team’s desire to create a mark in the world’s most prestigious T20 event.
The hymn begins with Shri Kavi Narmad’s renowned lyrics, “Jai Jai Garvi Gujarat.” The words ‘Aava De’ signifies a challenge, meaning ‘Bring it on.’
“Aditya Gadhvi and I wanted to capture the spirit of Gujarat via our partnership. We also wanted to emphasize the Gujarat Titans’ slogan, ‘Aava De,’ which means ‘Bring it on’. It’s all about bringing the spirit of Gujarat to life in its own unique style,” said Dub Sharma, in a statement.
“This is why we worked with Aditya, who brought some key Gujarati information forward. I am convinced that there will be sections of the song that stick in people’s memories,” Sharma further stated.
“I knew I had to communicate the spirit, character, and uniqueness of Gujarat through this song when I was asked to perform it for the Gujarat Titans. I chose a song that is associated with the state. I’m overjoyed that it was well received by the Gujarat Titans,” Aditya Gadhvi said.
“When this is played at the stadium, I am confident that everyone will join in singing “Hove Hove,” which will enliven the Gujarat Titans,” he further stated.
The IPL 2022 season begins today at 7:30pm, with the opening match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
In their first match, scheduled to be held on Monday, the Gujarat Titans will face another newcomer, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
