Tata Steel Collaborates with Indian Oil Corporation to Reduce Carbon Footprint

Tata Steel has taken another step toward environmental sustainability by signing an agreement with the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and its business associate. The partnership aims to reduce carbon emissions at Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys plants in Gopalpur and Athagarh, located in the Odisha state of India.

Key Highlights:

•Transition to LPG: Tata Steel is shifting from using Furnace Oil and High-Speed Diesel to Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) as a more sustainable fuel option. This transition aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and address environmental concerns.

•Eco-Friendly Impact: The adoption of LPG is expected to result in a significant reduction in carbon emissions, furthering Tata Steel’s commitment to sustainability and decarbonization.

Pankaj Satija, Executive-In-Charge of Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division, emphasized the importance of this agreement in reducing the carbon footprint at their plants and reiterated the company’s dedication to a greener future.

This collaboration highlights Tata Steel’s ongoing efforts to operate sustainably and make environmentally responsible choices in its industrial operations.
