The recent derogatory remarks made by BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri against BSP’s Danish Ali during a discussion in Lok Sabha have sparked outrage and garnered significant attention. In response, INDIA bloc parties have come together in support of Danish Ali, demanding that the matter be referred to the privileges committee. Ali has even indicated that if appropriate action is not taken in response to Bidhuri’s remarks, he may consider resigning from his parliamentary membership.
The BJP has issued a show cause notice to Ramesh Bidhuri for his use of objectionable language against Ali during the Chandrayaan mission’s success discussion.
Speaker Om Birla, taking a stern stance, has warned Bidhuri of “strict action” in case of a repeat of such behavior in the future. Several opposition parties have called for Bidhuri’s suspension from Lok Sabha.
Notably, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and K C Venugopal have expressed solidarity with Ali, and other prominent opposition leaders have demanded that the matter be sent to the privileges committee.
Ali himself has described Bidhuri’s remarks as “hate speech” and has called for the suspension of the BJP MP from the House. He emphasized that such derogatory comments have no place within the parliamentary proceedings.
BSP supremo Mayawati expressed disappointment with the BJP’s response, noting that while certain actions have been taken, the party has not yet taken “appropriate” action against Bidhuri.
Other opposition leaders, including those from the Congress and CPI(M), have strongly condemned Bidhuri’s remarks, with some demanding his arrest and others questioning the values of the RSS.
The incident has highlighted the importance of maintaining decorum and civility in parliamentary debates and discussions, with leaders from various parties calling for accountability and appropriate action in response to offensive language and behavior in the House.
