DRI’s Relentless Drive: Kenyan National Apprehended with Rs. 17 Crore Cocaine Stash at IGI Airport

In a resolute stride against the perilous tide of narcotics cocaine trafficking, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment. Their latest operation, a masterstroke, unfolded at the IGI Airport, New Delhi, where a Kenyan passenger, fresh off a flight from Nairobi, was seized.

Initial verbal denial shattered under the scrutiny of DRI officers, unveiling a staggering find concealed within the suspect’s luggage – a cache of approximately 1,698 grams of cocaine. With a street value soaring to a staggering Rs. 17 crore, this haul casts a stark light on the underbelly of the illicit international drug market.

What follows is a tale of precision and dogged pursuit. The threads of evidence pointed to a flight destined for Mumbai, and within hours, a meticulously planned operation bore fruit. The intended recipient, another Kenyan national, was apprehended in the heart of Vasai, Mumbai.

Both the courier and recipient of this sinister trade have been ensnared, guided by the robust provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The year 2023 has witnessed DRI’s unrelenting pursuit, marked by 42 seizures of cocaine and heroin across the nation. The haul: over 31 kg of cocaine and a staggering 96 kg of heroin – a stark reminder of the vigilant shield guarding our borders against this nefarious trade.
