Navratna Central Public Sector Agreement with the Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam for the supply of 300 MW of solar power

NLC India Limited,  Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the administrative control of the Ministry of Coal, has entered into a Limited Long Term Power Use Agreement with the Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam for the supply of 300 MW of solar power under the CPSU scheme in Rajasthan.

NLCIL currently has 1,421 MW of renewable energy capacity. According to the company’s corporate plan, a capacity of 6,031 MW is being considered by 2030. The company secured 510 MW solar project capacity in Tranche III Phase II of the CPSU Scheme prepared by the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) through competitive bidding.

 A 300 MW solar project is under implementation at Barsingsar, Bikaner District, Rajasthan. The EPC contract for the project was awarded to M/s TATA power solar systems through competitive bidding.

A Power Use Agreement (PUA) for a 300 MW solar project was signed between NLC India Limited and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) on 17 August 2023 at Jaipur by Shri D.K.Jain, Director (Finance), RUVNL and Shri D.P.Singh , GM (PBD) of NLC India Ltd in the presence of Shri Bhaskar A Sawant, Principal Secretary, Power, Govt. of Rajasthan, Shri MM Ranwa, MD, RUVNL and Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLC India Ltd, Shri Mukesh Agrawal, ED (Finance), NLCIL, Jagadish Chandra Mazumdar, Project Manager, Barsingsar Project and other senior officials, for supplying solar energy to the state of Rajasthan for the next 25 years.

The project is expected to produce 750 million units of energy annually and the total green energy produced will be supplied to the state of Rajasthan. The project will help the state of Rajasthan meet its renewable energy purchase commitment targets.

The energy produced from the project will help reduce carbon emissions to 0.726 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. On the renewable energy front, apart from the current capacity of 1.40 GW in Tamil Nadu, this is the first time that NLCIL is expanding its footprint of this capacity in other states.
