Actor Vijay Varma‘s career is a testament to this very sentiment, whether as an abusive husband in ‘Darlings’ or a mild-mannered teacher who takes on the role of a serial killer in ‘Dahaad’. Various shades of grey, including ‘Gully Boy’, the first series of ‘She’ and ‘Lust Stories 2’, have led to his fans constantly asking for his next positive role.
Vijay Varma says “i doesn’t believe in standing out and likes to just “disappear into the characters he plays, I don’t believe in standing out or trying to get attention. I feel like it’s not an actor’s job. I figured I had to play him as the most ordinary guy. If I do something unusual, the characters around me will look stupid, like they can’t see that this guy is wrong? Varma said about his much-acclaimed role as a common man who is actually a serial killer in “Dahaad”.
Vijay Varma says in an interview “He must be a great manipulator and knows how to hide in plain sight. The performance has to serve the script and one of the joys I find is the ability to blend into the script”. That’s why he chose a chameleon as a reference for his character Ananda in ‘Dahaad’, the Prime Video show hosted by Sonakshi Sinha.
Vijay Varma says “I modeled it like that and dressed like a chameleon. If you look at his shirts, they all have vertical lines and some kind of pattern. It’s always in the leaves. You don’t know what kind of person he”. For him, the script is the main criterion for entering the project.
Vijay Varma also says “The only criteria is the script, the role and then the director. After a few years of work, I added one more and that was ‘I can’t repeat myself’. I try to mix it up somehow. I am very happy to have a medium, an audience. As long as I have an audience, I want to keep up the good work”.
