Bawaal movie interest from the trailer itself, where many were left wondering how the concept of World War II would fit into the love story of the lead characters. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has received requests from Japan to dub Nitesh Tiwari‘s film in Japanese language for historical relevance.
Bawaal stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead. Varun is seen as a small town guy who gets married to Janhvi Kapoor. The two have nothing in common. The trailer shows them taking a trip to Europe and exploring places like Paris and other places that were at the center of World War II. The historical event is used as a recurring reference in the trailer as the characters talk about the “world war within”.
Special request from Japan
A source said: “The requests came from the Japanese audience. They expressed their interest in dubbing it in the local language, as the film has the potential to resonate with audiences in Japan due to its association with WWII. There are talks in Japan taking Bawaal as the subject of a film that touches on the themes and events surrounding World War II, which also forms part of Japanese history.
At the trailer launch of the film a few weeks ago, Nitesh clarified, “World War II is huge. So much happened and you can’t take everything. You have to pick and choose things that are likely to affect the journey of the characters, and that’s exactly why why [World War II as a backdrop] was adopted. Hitler also happens to be a part of it, and you can’t have him in World War II.” Nitesh will premiere on Prime Video India on July 21.
