Special traffic arrangements will be in place in Delhi in view of the inauguration of the new Parliament building, a major event that is expected to see many politicians from across the country. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory outlining traffic regulations and restrictions for May 28 to ensure smooth traffic and beef up security measures in the national capital.
According to the advisory, the New Delhi district will be treated as a controlled area during the inauguration ceremony. Only certain categories of vehicles will be allowed to enter and move in this defined area. Permitted vehicles include public transport vehicles, civil service aspirants, bonafide residents, marked vehicles and emergency vehicles.
To facilitate the implementation of traffic regulations, the advisory provides a detailed description of the area that will be considered a regulated zone.
Area bounded by Mother Teresa Ceresent Road, Talkatora Roundabout, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Gol Dak Khana Roundabout, Ashok Road, Patel Chowk Roundabout, Ashok Road, Windsor Place Roundabout, Janpath, MLNP Roundabout, Akbar Road, Roundabout Gol Methi, Akbar Road, GKP Roundabout, Teen Murti Marg, Teen Murti Roundabout and Mother Teresa Crescent Road will be considered regulated areas,” the advisory said.
The Delhi Traffic Police warned that many VVIPs and other dignitaries are likely to attend the inauguration ceremony and asked people to plan their journey accordingly and avoid the New Delhi area from 5:30 am to 3:00 pm.
By designating an area as a regulated zone, traffic authorities can better manage vehicle flow, prevent congestion and provide a safe environment for the inaugural event.
The Delhi Traffic Police has urged the general public to plan their commute accordingly and follow the prescribed regulations. Individuals who do not fall under the categories mentioned in this advisory have been advised to avoid the New Delhi area during the specified period to avoid any inconvenience.
Police officers will be deployed at key checkpoints and junctions to enforce traffic regulations.
