IMD issues heat wave warning for Delhi-NCR as temperature partly touches 46 degrees

With parts of Delhi recording a maximum temperature of around 46 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for parts of Delhi-NCR on Monday. The heat wave is likely to subside in parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal, the IMD said.

In a press release, the IMD said, “Maximum temperatures are very likely to increase by 2-3°C over northwest India during the next 3 days and then decrease by 3-5°C. There is likely to be no significant change in the maximum temperature over the rest of the country during the next 5 days.

The IMD also said that parts of Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and Andaman and Nicobar Islands are likely to witness rains during the next three days. Along with states including Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Scattered rainfall along with lightning is likely to occur over Himalayan and Uttarakhand region. Heavy rainfall was forecast over isolated areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Parts of South India are also likely to witness scattered rainfall including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe during the next 5 days.
