First canceling all of its cash flights, lessors have applied to deregister a total of 36 aircraft with requests

In less than a week of Go First canceling all of its cash flights, lessors have applied to deregister a total of 36 aircraft with requests to take over 13 more on Monday.

With the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) yet to deliver its verdict on Go First’s petition seeking voluntary insolvency proceedings, the airline on Monday sought an early ruling from the tribunal, saying the lessors have initiated de-registration of the aircraft.

The tribunal agreed to examine Go First’s application. Lessors have approached the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to cancel the registration of 13 more Go First aircraft, according to an update from the regulator on Monday.

Go First has not operated flights since May 3.

Earlier on Monday, the DGCA directed airlines to immediately stop booking and selling tickets directly or indirectly till further orders.

In addition, the regulator has issued a notice to the budget carrier under relevant provisions of the Aircraft Rules 1937 for failing to continue operating the service in a safe, efficient and reliable manner, according to the source.

The DGCA has asked the carrier to submit its response within 15 days of receipt of the show cause notice and further a decision on the continuation of its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) will be taken based on the response submitted by it. , the source added. Earlier, the airline suspended ticket sales until May 15 and canceled flights until May 12.
