Scorpion bites a woman passenger on board an Air India flight way from Nagpur to Mumbai

A scorpion stung a passenger on board an Air India flight which was on its way from Nagpur to Mumbai.

Air India confirmed the incident, which took place on April 23, adding that the passenger was given treatment and is now out of danger. Although live birds and rats are found on board, it is rare for a passenger to be stung by a scorpion.

“On April 23, 2023, an extremely rare and unfortunate incident occurred where a passenger was stung by a scorpion on board our flight AI 630,” an Air India spokesperson said.

The passenger received immediate medical attention and was taken to hospital shortly after the plane landed.

“Upon landing, the said passenger was seen by a doctor at the airport and was subsequently treated at the hospital and discharged. Our officials accompanied the passenger to the hospital and offered the passenger all support until discharge,” said the AI spokeswoman.

After receiving information about the incident, Air India’s technical team conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft.

“Our team followed protocol and conducted a complete inspection of the aircraft and found the scorpion, after which proper fumigation process was carried out. We sincerely regret the agony and inconvenience caused to the passenger,” Air India said.
