PM Narendra Modi lands in Bengaluru to inaugurate Aero India 2023 tomorrow

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bengaluru on Sunday evening to inaugurate the 14th edition of Aero India 2023 on February 13. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai received the Prime Minister at HAL Airport, who landed here in a special Air Force flight.

Bommai tweeted “Warm welcome to Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji to Karnataka. The PM will inaugurate Aero India-2023 in Bengaluru, enthralling the audience with combat flights, acrobatic displays and mid-air formations. Our very own Tejas light combat aircraft will also be the center of attraction”.

Modi will launch a five-day event themed ‘Runway to a Billion Opportunities’ at Yelahanka Air Station to showcase India’s growth in aerospace and defence.

According to an official statement, Aero India-2023 this time will focus on exhibiting indigenous equipment / technologies and establishing partnerships with foreign companies in line with the vision of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’.

It said 98 countries, defense ministers of 32 countries, air chiefs of 29 countries and 73 CEOs of global and Indian original equipment manufacturers are likely to attend the event, the largest ever.

As many as 809 defense companies, including medium, small and micro enterprises (MSMEs) and startups, will showcase advancements in niche technologies and growth in the aerospace and defense sector.

Major exhibitors include Airbus, Boeing, Dassault Aviation, Lockheed Martin, Israel Aerospace Industry, BrahMos Aerospace, Army Aviation, HC Robotics, SAAB, Safran, Rolls Royce, Larsen & Toubro, Bharat Forge Limited, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and BEML Limited, the statement said.

He added that about five million visitors are expected to attend the event in person, with millions more joining via television and the Internet.

“The objective of the event is to promote exports of indigenous aviation platforms such as Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)-Tejas, HTT-40, Dornier Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH). Integrate domestic MSMEs and startups into the global supply chain and attract foreign investment including co-development and co-production partnerships,” the statement added.

A key feature this time during the biennale will be a stand-alone Karnataka Pavilion, which will introduce participants to the opportunities available in the state.
