US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to China early next month and details of his visit are being finalized. The challenge North Korea poses to the Indo-Pacific region and beyond will be on the agenda when the secretary of state visits Beijing, State Department spokesman Ned Price said Wednesday at his daily press conference.
Price said “The minister has been saying for several weeks that he will travel to the PRC (People’s Republic of China) at the beginning of this year. Now that we’re in early 2023, I expect the secretary will have an opportunity to travel to Beijing next month, the details of the visit are still being worked out”.
Although the dates of Blinken’s visit to China have not yet been announced, a Politico report said he is likely to be in Beijing on February 5 and 6.
Price went on to say, “I can imagine that when Secretary Blinken travels to Beijing, he will have the opportunity to meet with several partners and discuss a wide range of issues that underpin what is arguably Beijing’s most important bilateral relationship world.”
In response to a question, he said the challenge North Korea poses to the Indo-Pacific region and beyond will be on the agenda when Secretary Blinken visits China.
