The budget session of parliament will start on January 31 and will last until April 6

The budget session of Parliament will begin from January 31 and continue till April 6, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Friday. The winter session was interrupted last month due to numerous breakdowns.

Pralhad Joshi wrote the Union minister tweeted “The Budget Session of Parliament 2023 will begin from January 31 and continue till April 6 with 27 sessions spread over 66 days with the usual break. Amrit Kaal is looking forward to discussions on the motion of thanks to the President, Union Budget and other items, but there will be a break between February 14 and March 12”.

Pralhad Joshi also added “During the 2023 budget session, there will be a recess from February 14 to March 12 to allow the parliamentary standing committees related to ministries to scrutinize grant applications and submit reports related to their ministries/departments”.

During the winter session of Parliament, the Opposition claimed that it was not allowed to discuss the clash between Indian and Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. This led to many failures.

Meanwhile, a budget meeting is due to take place as the world continues to grapple with the fallout from the Ukraine war, which has hit commodity prices globally. The World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) have also warned of an impending recession in 2023.

In India, easing food prices pushed retail inflation to a 12-month low of 5.7 percent in December, the National Statistics Office (NSO) said on Thursday. The quarter ending December 2022 was the fourth consecutive quarter in which CPI remained above the 6% mark.
