Residents of remote areas of Jammu will soon be provided with helicopter services

Residents of remote areas of Jammu will soon be provided with helicopter services to reach their far-flung homes during winter. The administration has decided to start helicopter service for the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal region of Jammu province to enable people to reach their faraway homes during winter. According to reports, people widely appreciated the administration’s decision.

The decision was taken in a meeting presided over by Jammu Provincial Commissioner Romesh Kumar, in which apart from the Deputy Commissioners of Kishtwar, Ramban, Doda, Rajouri and Poonch districts, tourism, civil aviation authorities, Global Vectra Helicopter Private Limited and CISF officials also participated. Fare from Jammu to Rajouri will be ₹2000, Jammu to Poonch ₹4000, Jammu to Doda ₹2500, Jammu to Kishtwar ₹4000, Kishtwar to Nawapachi ₹1500, Kishtwar ₹150.

The fare was fixed at ₹1000 from Sundar and ₹2000 from Kishtwar to Anshan. The establishment of a regular helicopter service will not only bring great relief to the local people, but will also help in emergency medical situations. Medical emergency procedures will also be completed. The Provincial Commissioner directed the respective Deputy Commissioners to appoint Nodal Officers and conduct a joint inspection with the Global Vectra Helicopter technical team to ensure the readiness of the designated helipads in their respective areas.

He also directed Global Vectra Helicopter to explore providing online flight booking for people’s convenience. The Joint Director of Tourism has been appointed as the nodal officer to coordinate with Global Vectra Helicopter for seamless services. The Joint Director of Tourism has been directed to set up a dedicated ticket booking counter at TRC Jammu and appoint a team of officials. He also emphasized that a dedicated counter should be set up at the Jammu airport to be manned by the Joint Director of Tourism for ticket booking. It directed Global Vectra Helicopter to provide timely notification to confirmed passengers of flight cancellations due to adverse weather conditions. The Provincial Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioners to advertise and give detailed information about the tariffs and timings of hospitals, bus stands and other prominent places for the information of the general public.
