India set to take over the chair of Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence

The outgoing council chair of the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI), France will hand over the chair to India at the third edition of the annual GPAI summit, in Tokyo. After receiving the 2/3rd votes of the member nations.

The annual meeting discusses Responsible AI, data governance, the future of work, and Innovation and commercialization. The GPAI with 25 members presently, is an initiative on AI to bridge the gap between the theory and practice of AI.

Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, minister of state for electronics and IT represented India at the GPAI meeting. India aims to work in close cooperation with the member states to develop a framework for guarding the power of AI and preventing misuse and user harm. India focuses on creating an ecosystem of modern cyber laws and frameworks driven by conditions of openness, safety, trust and accountability.
