US President Joe Biden said he would “come out stronger” for his first one-on-one meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Monday, buoyed by better-than-expected midterm election results.
Biden will first meet Chinese Premier Li Keqiang at the East Asia Summit in Cambodia on Sunday, a precursor to a meeting with Xi Jinping.
He will also hold talks with several Asian leaders, including US allies South Korea and Japan. Biden promised the US would work with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on common challenges such as the South China Sea and escalating violence in Myanmar.
