40 Pakistani militants killed in various operations in Jammu and Kashmir DGP said

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh, said on Sunday that security forces have killed 40 Pakistani militants in various operations in the union territory this year. The DGP said they were trying to locate and recover dozens of “Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)” planted in the state by Pakistani agencies. The DGP also said that the militants were targeting non-locals and those living here for a long time to trigger a violent reaction against Kashmiris living in other states of the country.

Singh said that the structure of most of the militants working in the valley has been destroyed. “Their leadership has been largely destroyed. Pakistani agencies mostly try to keep the command of Jaish and Lashkar in the hands of Pakistani terrorists so that they can direct the activities there. Our attempt this year was aimed at external terrorists who come here to mislead the youth, destroy peace and cause damage to lives and property. In this context, there have been many successful operations in which 40 Pakistani terrorists have been killed in various operations,” Singh told the media on the sidelines of a sports event – Kashmir Marathon – in Srinagar.

He said there were attempts to push back more terrorists based in Pakistan. “There are reports that some new groups have been activated after the (guidelines) were breached. Our efforts continue and I hope we will be successful,” he said. The police chief said infiltration was under control compared to previous years, but Pakistan was trying to push through ready-made IEDs.

“From time to time there are attempts to push terrorists from across the border. There were attempts at Rajouri and Poonch which were foiled. Similarly in Baramulla and Kupwara the attempts were foiled. We have also recovered dozens of IEDs in some operations that are ready for use. Unfortunately, there have been some incidents where this ready-made IED has been used, especially in Jammu, where there has been some loss of life and property.

Two such blasts took place in buses in Udhampur and earlier there was an explosion in the vegetable market in the district. There was also an incident in a bus earlier,” he said. He said as the weather changes, there will be attempts to push more infiltrators in front of the snow. “Pakistani agencies will try to push more terrorists. But our border security network is strong. That is why many such attempts have been foiled,” he said.
