Reliance Jio reported a 28 percent rise in net profit for the September quarter at ₹ 4,518 crore

Reliance Jio Infocomm on Friday reported a 28 percent year-on-year rise in net profit for the September quarter at ₹ 4,518 crore. Its net profit stood at ₹ 3,528 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, the telco said in a regulatory filing. Operating income for the just-ended quarter jumped 20.2 percent to ₹22,521 crore from ₹18,735 crore in the year-ago period.

The Q2 results review comes amid a large-scale rollout of networks across the country for 5G services, the much-discussed next-generation technology that promises to ring in a new era of supercharged speeds, lag-free connectivity and new-age applications in India. , the second largest smartphone market in the world after China. Earlier this month, Jio announced that it will start a beta trial of its 5G services from October 5 in four cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Varanasi with a select group of customers.
