India offers the world an unrivaled combination of talent, scale and skills

Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles Shri Piyush Goyal said that India offers the world an unrivaled combination of talent, scale and skills. He was interacting with the students after visiting the knowledge section at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai. Shri Goyal said that the IIT-Chennai campus was indeed excellent. It is a work of art because science alone cannot define this place. Science enables, art is in all your minds, which also helps to come up with simple solutions to our everyday problems, he added.

Talking about India’s huge innovation potential, the minister said the world would also like to engage in sustainability and newer technologies at an affordable cost and would look to India for our innovation and talent. “Sustainability, energy efficiency, electric mobility coupled with Indian manufacturing skills, every innovation and technology developed here has a huge market,” he added.

Shri Goyal said that India offers a huge market with more than a billion people who are now connected to the entire world through television and smart phones. India offers the largest aspirational population, he added. The minister noted that today’s world recognizes that India’s time to shine has come. India’s demographic dividend, our large young population, is another factor that is our strength, he said. Countries around the world are wooing us today and are drawn to us for the talent and skills that India has to offer, he added.

Addressing the students, Shri Goyal said that the nation will be grateful for every contribution of our youth and our students. He found that the scale of India’s aspirational population can help them gain economies of scale, can drive the technologies they produce, and can save the output of their labor. Shri Goyal exhorted the students to have bold vision and great ambition. “We as a country should have big, hard and bold goals.” Abbreviated as BHAG. We all have to share in this journey as we work our way towards becoming a developed nation and together we move towards this goal,” he added. The Minister said that innovation is elementary, simple thinking leading to the solution of a number of problems that can help our country and the world and students can contribute immensely to these solutions. As he noted as we get into Azadi ka Amrit Kaal, these 25 years will define India and its future.
