Researchers are tracking a new source of radio emissions from the core of a black hole

A group of Indian astronomers claimed to have found clues to possible sources of radio emissions emanating from the central regions of black holes. Some of the black holes emit radio emissions, but their source has largely not been fully understood.

Although many previous studies have linked multiple sources of emission, this new study finds that energy from the accretion disk drives the radio signals, rather than rotational energy from the spin of black holes, as previously believed.

The findings of this joint study, conducted by researchers from Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, IITs-Guwahati and Indore along with Xiamen University, China, were recently published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
