New Zealand’s Space Minister Judith Collins is set to attend the prestigious 40th Space Symposium in Colorado from April 8–12, aiming to elevate the country’s standing in the global space industry. The event, one of the world’s most influential gatherings of space sector leaders, offers Collins a vital platform to promote New Zealand’s growing space and advanced aviation industries.
Highlighting her enthusiasm, Collins said she’s “looking forward to returning to the Space Symposium to continue championing New Zealand as the place to do space-related business.” Her visit follows a landmark year, as New Zealand ranked third globally in space launches in 2024, underscoring its emergence as a serious player in space exploration.
A key moment during the trip will be Collins’ address at the symposium, where she’ll share insights into New Zealand’s achievements and ambitions in the space and aviation sectors. The Minister will also sign a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the State of Colorado, boosting collaboration in aerospace, science, tech, and geothermal development.
Additionally, Collins is scheduled to host a reception spotlighting New Zealand’s space sector, meet with Colorado Governor Jared Polis, and engage in high-level talks to attract international investment and strengthen policy frameworks.
This visit aligns with the government’s wider efforts to grow the national economy through high-tech, space-driven innovation, while also creating new opportunities to ease the cost of living for New Zealanders.
