Mumbai: The Maharashtra Police Cyber Cell has summoned YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani, along with actor Rakhi Sawant, in connection with the controversy surrounding Allahbadia’s remarks on Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent.
Allahbadia and Chanchlani have been asked to appear on February 24, while Sawant has been summoned on February 27. The actor and reality TV star had appeared as a guest in one of the show’s episodes.
The controversy erupted after Allahbadia, popularly known as Beer Biceps, made comments about parents and sex, triggering multiple FIRs against him. The Supreme Court recently granted him protection from arrest and further FIRs but strongly criticized him for his remarks, calling them a reflection of “the dirt in his mind.”
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court also tagged Chanchlani’s plea with Allahbadia’s, as the former sought to either quash or transfer to Mumbai an FIR filed in Guwahati over alleged obscenity in the online show. The court has sought responses from the Maharashtra and Assam governments.
Earlier this week, the Gauhati High Court granted Chanchlani interim bail while hearing his anticipatory bail plea, directing him to appear before the investigating officer within 10 days.
