Delhi Shivers Under Foggy Chill as Air Quality Deteriorates

A thick blanket of fog engulfed Delhi on Friday as temperatures dropped to 10.8°C, forcing homeless residents to seek refuge in night shelters. The Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) set up 235 temporary shelters across key locations, including AIIMS and Nizamuddin flyover, to provide relief from the biting cold.

Despite the chill, Delhi’s air quality remains in the ‘very poor’ category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) rising to 350. Authorities warn of worsening pollution levels as winter conditions persist.

Meanwhile, the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj continues uninterrupted despite the frigid weather. Northern states, including Jammu and Kashmir, are also witnessing a severe cold spell, with temperatures in Srinagar dropping to 2.4°C, while Gulmarg and Pahalgam experience even harsher conditions.
