New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unveiled a series of development projects in the capital, including 1,675 newly constructed flats for residents of JJ clusters and several urban redevelopment and educational initiatives. These projects, aimed at enhancing the quality of life and fostering growth, mark significant strides in the government’s commitment to housing, sustainability, and education.
During the event at Ashok Vihar, PM Modi handed over keys to beneficiaries of the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project at Swabhiman Apartments. The project, implemented by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), aims to improve the living conditions of slum dwellers by providing modern flats equipped with essential amenities. Beneficiaries contribute only ₹1.42 lakh and a nominal maintenance fee of ₹30,000 for five years, while the government subsidizes the remaining construction cost.
“These efforts reflect our unwavering commitment to nurturing future generations and improving the ease of living for Delhi’s citizens,” PM Modi said on his X handle, calling it an “important day for Delhi’s development.”
The Prime Minister also inaugurated two major urban redevelopment projects. The World Trade Centre at Nauroji Nagar replaces over 600 dilapidated quarters with cutting-edge commercial towers, offering 34 lakh square feet of premium office space. The project incorporates green building practices, including rainwater harvesting and solar energy systems, promoting eco-friendly development.
In Sarojini Nagar, PM Modi inaugurated the GPRA Type-II Quarters, which include 28 residential towers with over 2,500 modern units. The project features sustainable designs, including sewage treatment plants and solar-powered waste compactors, to encourage an environmentally conscious lifestyle.
In addition to housing and urban development, PM Modi laid the foundation for three new projects under Delhi University, with an investment of ₹600 crore. These include the Eastern Campus in Surajmal Vihar, the Western Campus in Dwarka, and Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh. Designed with advanced infrastructure, these institutions aim to provide world-class education facilities to students in the capital.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated CBSE’s Integrated Office Complex in Dwarka, built at a cost of ₹300 crore. The eco-friendly building features an advanced data center, an auditorium, and efficient water management systems, adhering to Platinum Rating standards of the Indian Green Building Council.
“These initiatives represent a transformative vision for Delhi, focusing on sustainable development, better living standards, and opportunities for growth,” PM Modi said.
The event marked a significant step forward in the government’s mission to create a modern, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable capital city.
