Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory for Friday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects in the national capital. The advisory highlights traffic restrictions in northwest Delhi due to the VVIP visit.
PM Modi is scheduled to visit the newly constructed Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar at around 12:10 p.m., where he will inaugurate 1,675 flats built under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project for residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters. During the event, the Prime Minister will hand over keys to eligible beneficiaries of the housing scheme.
Additionally, Modi will inaugurate two major urban redevelopment projects the World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar and the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister will address a public rally at Ramleela Ground in northwest Delhi, officially kicking off his campaign for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. The Election Commission has yet to announce the poll dates. Modi’s next rally is scheduled for January 5 at Japanese Park in Rohini.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, the Delhi Traffic Police has outlined specific restrictions between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on January 3. Commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly, especially if traveling through the following areas:
•Mall Road (Ring Road): From Hakikat Nagar Red Light to Azadpur Chowk (both directions).
•GTK Road: Between Azadpur Chowk and Gurudwara Nanak Pio.
•Bhamashah Marg: From Model Town-1 to Nanak Pio.
•Lala Achhintam Marg & Brahma Kumari Marg: Covering Gujranwala and Derawal areas.
•Nahar Singh Marg: From Prembari Chowk to Inderlok Metro Station (both directions).
•Gulab Singh Marg: Between Satyawati College and Prerna Chowk.
•Swami Narayan Marg: From Delhi Jal Board Red Light to Laxmi Bai College.
•Mahatma Gandhi Marg: From Britannia Chowk to Azadpur.
Residents traveling to areas such as Azadpur, Model Town, Kingsway Camp, Gujranwala Town, Derawal Nagar, Swabhiman Apartments, and Ramleela Ground are encouraged to allow extra time for their commute and avoid the affected routes if possible.
The Delhi Traffic Police has urged motorists to remain patient, adhere to traffic rules, and follow the instructions of traffic personnel deployed at key intersections. Commuters are advised to stay informed through the Delhi Traffic Police’s official communication channels for real-time updates.
