The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for dense and shallow to moderate fog across various districts in Odisha, prompting the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) to alert local authorities to take necessary precautions.
The IMD predicts dense fog at one or two locations in Angul and Kandhamal districts until 8:30 AM tomorrow. A yellow warning has been issued for these regions, urging vigilance.
In addition, shallow to moderate fog is expected in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, and Nayagarh during the same period. This foggy condition is forecasted to persist in these areas from January 2 to January 3 as well.
Dry weather is likely to prevail across Odisha until January 2, with temperatures expected to range between 26°C (maximum) and 15°C (minimum). The highest temperature of 31.8°C was recorded in Paralakhemundi, while the lowest temperature of 9.2°C was noted in Jharsuguda.
The SRC has advised police and transport officials in affected districts to ensure controlled vehicle movement on highways during dense fog to prevent road accidents. Residents and travelers are urged to remain cautious and plan accordingly in light of the weather conditions.
