“Samajik Adhikarita Shivir” for distribution of aids and assistive devices to senior citizens under “Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana” (RVY Scheme) and “Divyangjan” under ADIP program of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India organized by Ministry of SJ&E in collaboration with ALIMCO, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and District Administration Nagpur today at Reshimbagh Ground in Nagpur (Maharashtra).
The chief guest of the event Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways inaugurated the distribution camp and distributed various types of aids and assistive devices to Divyangjan and the citizens of S. in the presence of Dr. Virendra Kumar, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment. A total of 241200 aids and assistive devices worth Rs. 3483.00 Lakh will be distributed free of cost under Central Government Scheme to 27356 Senior Citizens and 7780 Divyangjan beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari said that the aim of our government is to serve the person who belongs to the marginalized section of the society and the one who stands last in the queue must benefit from the government program which will empower them. Thanked Dr. Virendra Kumar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment for implementing social welfare programs under his ministry in Nagpur city.
In a speech at the gathering, Dr. Virendra Kumar announced that the department has extended all possible support to set up Maharashtra’s first ‘Divyang Park’ at Nagpur and work on this endeavor will begin soon. “Divyang Park” will have various kinds of facilities for Divyangjans such as sensory garden, textile path garden for touch and smell, skill training facilities, rehabilitation facilities, sports and infotainment etc.
Various types of assistive devices will be distributed among the identified citizens of Sr. and Divyangjan beneficiaries in phases who were registered during the assessment camps organized by ALIMCO in collaboration with NMC and District Administration, Nagpur at various locations in Nagpur Urban & Rural Area. These evaluation camps for the identification of beneficiaries took place during the months of February to May this year.
In the inaugural distribution camp at Reshimbagh Ground, a total of 68683 aids and assistive devices worth Rs.919.00 Lakhs will be distributed among 9018 pre-identified beneficiaries (8164 seniors and 854 Divyangjan) of South Nagpur. Various types of assistive devices to be distributed among the identified beneficiaries of South Nagpur include 30 Motorized Tricycles, 98 Tricycles, 1520 Wheelchairs, 305 Crutches, 6488 Walking Sticks, 21 Braille Kits, 75 Braille Sticks, 09 Rollers, 4166 Hearing Aids Set 102 MSIED , 11 C.P. Chair, 64 Smart Phone, 6436 Cervical Collar, 211 Calipers other top items for senior citizens include 13 Foot Care Units, 1585 Tri Pod, 1247 Spinal Support, 8107 LS Belt, 213 Commode Wheelchair, 7677 Chair Stool with Comiliconmode Foam cushion, 03 walking stick with seat, 581 walker, 4763 glasses, 16168 braces, 935 denture. Shri Surendra Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, Shri Radhakrishan B., Commissioner, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Shri Vijay Humne, Deputy Commissioner, NMC, Nagpur, Dr. Vipin Itankar, District Collector, Nagpur, Shri Yogesh Kumbhejkar, CEO, Nagpur Zila Parishad and other leaders of the Ceremony are also present, officials from Municipal Office and ALIMCO.
