Vijay Varma said that his success did not mean much to his parents, but now they are sure that he will not starve to death. Vijay is widely praised for his performance as an abusive husband in the new Netflix film Darlings. Asked how his parents are happy with his success, Vijay told Prabhat Khabar, “They don’t mind it too much. My mom is a very normal homely woman. She is mostly busy with her work. Yes, now they are assured that I won’t starve and can make a comfortable living. Every time my mom calls me for a video, she tells me I’ve lost weight. She always asks me if I’m eating right.”After making his debut with Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s short film titled Shor, Vijay worked in several films including Chittagong before getting his breakthrough.
Aniruddh Roy Chowdhury’s 2016 film Pink starred Vijay in a negative role and proved to be his breakthrough. Taapsee Pannu, Kriti Kulhari and Amitabh Bachchan also appeared in the film, which received the National Film Award that year. It was also remade in Tamil and Telugu.Vijay has since portrayed several interesting roles and has also been awarded for his work. He has worked in Super 30, Gully Boy, Baaghi 3, Bamfaad, Ghost Stories and Hurdang.
Talking about his latest film Darlings, Vijay recently told, “When you read it on paper, you get a sense of the story. But what does the director think about it? When I got to know it, I found it fascinating. It was deeply challenging and I had to accept the challenge. When you have a script that’s so fresh and fascinating, an opportunity to work with Shefali Shah, Alia Bhatt, you don’t really have much to think about.”
