Paramount Plus has released the official teaser for the forthcoming drama miniseries ‘The Offer,’ which details the never-before-seen adventures of bringing the classic American crime picture ‘The Godfather’ to the big screen.
While the ‘Godfather‘ films are regarded an iconic trilogy in cinematic history, this 10-episode series will examine the development of the legendary mafia epic. According to Variety, Michael Tolkin is the creator and writer of the series.
Alongside Matthew Goode (Robert Evans), Juno Temple (Bettye McCartt), Giovanni Ribisi (Joe Colombo), Dan Fogler (Coppola), Burn Gorman (Charles Bluhdorn), Colin Hanks (Barry Lapidus), and Patrick Gallo, Miles Teller plays Albert S. Ruddy (Mario Puzo).
The almost 2-minute teaser depicts the ambitious project’s arduous road to the big screen, with ruddy experiencing various pre-production problems, including negotiations with Colombo, a member of the American Mafia’s five families in New York City.
“You want to produce a movie that makes my people seem like beasts, and that ain’t going to happen,” Colombo says to Rudy.
Initially, Armie Hammer was cast as the starring role. However, Teller was brought in when Hammer left the show in late January after many women accused him of sexual misconduct.
According to Variety, director Dexter Fletcher will helm many episodes of ‘The Offer’. Along with the real-life Ruddy, Leslie Greif, Dalia Ibelhauptaite, and Nikki Toscano, he and Tolkin executive produced the film. Paramount Television Studios is in charge of the mini series’ production.
