Sonu Sood is disappointed with the reception of his last film Samrat Prithviraj

Sonu Sood is disappointed with the reception of his last film Samrat Prithviraj and the actor says one needs to accept failures and learn from them.Starring Akshay Kumar, the historical drama was released in theaters on June 3 and did not receive a favorable response from critics and audiences. The 49-year-old actor, who played Prithviraj Chauhan’s court poet Chand Bardai, said he wished the film had done better. I wish the movie would do well because there was a lot of hard work. As an actor, it is important that you give 100 percent and it is up to the audience to decide what is right and what is wrong it.

You have to accept your failures and learn from them and next time you can be better, you can deliver better. As an actor, I do that. We failed this time but we will do well next time, Sood told. Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films, the film had a budget of Rs 175 crore and reportedly collected around Rs 90 crore at the box office. Regardless of the film’s fate in theaters, Sood said Samrat Prithviraj will always remain one of the most special films of his career. Prithviraj’ was very special and Chand Bardai’s role was very special. Whatever role I am offered, I will continue to work hard for it and try to entertain people, he added.

The Moga-born actor’s next project is his debut podcast Commander Karan Saxena, based on author Amit Khan’s novel series Hamladar Commander Saxena. Lending his voice to the action thriller audio series was the most challenging task, Sood said. It was challenging because you have to be right because the visuals don’t support you and you have to create a world with just your voice that people feel in a way that sticks in their memory longer, he said.

The actor said that he took some notes where he had to be careful about how he would speak his lines. I made some notes about certain scenes, like sometimes a character is climbing up or not breathing or lying down or woken up or injured, you can’t just say the lines, the voice has to change accordingly. These pointers helped me, he added. His other upcoming films include Zee Studios’ action thriller Fateh , for which he will start shooting from October, followed by Kisaan , directed by E Niwas. She also has a Tamil film with actor Vijay Anthony in her kitty.

On the personal front, Sood continues to work around the clock to help people waiting in long queues outside his residence in Mumbai. He rose to national fame for his philanthropic work for migrant workers during the 2020 coronavirus lockdown. The journey that began during the pandemic is still ongoing, Sood said, adding that he now feels more responsible for helping those in need. Those who don’t have money have sold their coolers or bikes or mobile phones or whatever to come to me… and imagine if I’m not able to change their lives or do what they need, they’ll come back heartbroken, he said .

I make sure that people who come in with high hopes leave with a smile. People come from Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Telangana and other places. It’s a responsibility on my shoulders and I have to make sure I give 100 percent. I pray to God to give me the strength to do the job every day, he added. Commander Karan Saxena will be available on Spotify India from August 15.
