Sisodia vs BJP, AAP vs Centre, Yogi vs Mafia Raj’ Khan Market and politics of bulldozer

Khan market gang which briefly turned into ‘George Soros gang’. And then there’s the most wanted gang of all—yes, you guessed it—the one and only “tukde-tukde” gang.

The gangsters in this group are ‘anti-national’ or ‘anti-Modi’ which, the news channels tell you, are one and the same thing. They also tend to ‘be’, after which the government ‘slams’ them: ‘Anurag Thakur criticizes Rahul Gandhi’s anti-India rhetoric’ (Republic Television).

Oh, lest we forget, these gangs can become ‘lobbies’ when news anchors or reporters feel a little more sympathetic towards them. And what happened to the “toolbox”? He seems to have dropped out of the “ecosystem” for now.

Mention Rahul Gandhi and it starts the whole ‘parivaar’ and the party: ‘Vadra Congress’ as Republic TV has rechristened the Indian National Congress. She is responsible for “dynasty” politics and much of what ails India – at least on TV news. “Rahul Gandhi has let India down again,” says Times Now, tired of his antics.

As for the Congress, it is a party that has not learned any table manners – its members, say Pawan Khera, often ‘insult’ the Prime Minister with their barbed comments.

Drumming Politics – Who Does It Better?

Everything that happens on Indian TV news is a battle, a ‘face to face’ – it’s always ‘Sisodia vs BJP’, ‘AAP vs Centre’, Yogi vs Mafia Raj’ or the ominous sounding ‘Rashtravaad vs Tukde Gang’ (Times Now Navbharat). It’s actually a pretty sad picture. Apart from the real ‘war’ between Russia and Ukraine, there are war cries from Hindi and English news channels: ‘mahayudh’, ‘dharma judh’, ‘mahasangram’ going on simultaneously, ‘reckoning’ almost hourly and ‘protests’. ‘ every half hour. Currently, ‘Delhi Dangal’ is the hottest item on TV news as the Narendra Modi government is ‘warming up’ to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

There is “high drama”, “high-octane drama” inside and outside Parliament, leading to “shaking” (India Today) in TV studios. Alternatively, there are always ‘hamla’, ‘hungama’, ‘halla bol’ in some corner of the country who ‘wreak havoc’ with the peace and tranquility of this great nation. This naturally leads to a “war of words” in the main televised debates.

News channels see opposition parties hatching ‘conspiracies’ like eggs and scandals under every chair – think ‘sharaabi kand’ (TV 9) in the seat of power in Delhi. All of this leads to a popular term used by opposition parties that has made TV news headlines: “Politics of vendetta.”

Ah, politics. Politics is everything – that’s the drumbeat on TV news. ‘Siyasi hamla’ is constantly played in the studio, often so loudly that it becomes ‘halla bol politika’. And did anyone think that a machine would emerge into ‘bulldozer politics’ – the one that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has practically claimed as his own and is now exporting to the rest of India?

Hindi news channels can be much more inventive and entertaining with their headlines. Their common unique feature is that they go for rhyming couplets: ‘Pehle bulldozer ab meet’, ‘8 din 2 meet, agla kiska number’ is one of the latest attempts on Zee News. Or as a variation, how about ‘DY CM andar, agla kiska number?’
