Entertainment Focus: Superstar Salman Khansaid films from the south are doing “really well”In a tweet to Neetha Ashok

Superstar Salman Khan on Monday said films from the south are doing “really well” and while every artist wants to make a good film, there is no formula that guarantees success at the box office. Khan recently came on board to present the Hindi version of Kichcha Sudeep’s upcoming Kannada fantasy action adventure film “Vikrant Rona”.At a special event of the film, Khan interacted with the actor when actress Neetha Ashok said she was taken aback after seeing the Bollywood superstar share the film’s trailer on Twitter. To this, Khan said, “I’m releasing a film too! I have to do it (promotion). I don’t want to go at a loss… South films are doing really well.”

At the same time, the 56-year-old actor believes that there is no formula for making a successful film.”We’re all trying to make the best film, we want it to reach everybody. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. There’s no formula for it that something will work 100 percent,” he said.In recent times, films like Telugu action films ‘Pushpa – The Rise’, ‘RRR’ and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ (Kannada) have emerged as biggest hits in the industry, while many Bollywood films have flopped. So far, the Hindi film industry has only seen hits like ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and ‘Jugg jug Jeeyo’.

Sudeepa said that he does not want to “generalize” the success of films from the south, as he believes that if Bollywood did not have good work, it would not have lasted this long.”A lot of films are made in a year, not every film does well. Some films do, some films don’t. That’s not to generalize and say that (the industry) dominates. There are good times for everything. If the Hindi film industry wasn’t making great films, if he didn’t have great people, how would you last so many years?” he said.Comparing himself to cricketer ViratKohli, who is currently struggling with form, Sudeepa said it is only a matter of time before things get back on track.

“It’s just a matter (of time)… It’s like Virat Kohli is out of form for a while. Are you going to take away his records? It doesn’t work like that… Every industry stands for its potential,” he added. Sudeepa, 48, said the cultural exchange across industries shows that artists are absolutely safe. Citing “Vikrant Rona” as an example, the actor said that the film shows how a collaboration works with Khan, who presents the film, and Jacqueline Fernandez, who stars in it.“We are working with Hindi films, sir (Khan) is now supporting our film… Why would she (Fernandez) come and do that within the industry, why would we call her?

“Right now, sir, he’s playing a major role in Hyderabad, he’s going (on set) and coming back. Why would he do that? We’re all safe. It’s a beautiful thing to exchange ideas, to work together… It’s a beautiful atmosphere that we have.” said Sudeepa. Khan, who is slated to star in the Telugu film “The Godfather” opposite Chiranjeevi, said cultural exchange between different film industries has always been there.”For some reason it stopped. I worked with a lot of talent from the south, I worked with him (Sudeepa), Prakash Raj, Prabhudeva, a lot of directors from the south and DOPs… All the people from the south worked here and gave big hits,” he added Khan.”Vikrant Rona” directed by Anup Bhandari is a 3D fantasy action adventure film. It is scheduled to release on Thursday in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi
