PM Modi will attend the ‘Save Soil Movement’ with Sadhguru

The ‘Save Soil Movement’ is an international organization that raises awareness of deteriorating soil health and provides a meaningful response to its development. The movement was started by Sadhguru in March 2022, who embarked on a 100-day motorcycle journey through 27 countries. June 5 marks the 75th day of the 100-day journey. The Prime Minister’s participation in the program will reflect shared concern and commitment to improving soil health in India.

Sadhguru, Indian yoga guru and spiritual practitioner. Save Soil is an international organization launched by Sadhguru, to address the land crisis by bringing together people from all over the world to represent Soil Health, and to support leaders of all nations in developing national policies and measures to increase organic content on arable land.  Sadhguru is currently on a 100-day journey, 30,000 km #JourneyForSoil after launching the Movement to Save Soil worldwide since the March massacre. His journey began in London on March 21 and will end at the river Cauvery in late June. Sadhguru has visited 27 countries in the last 2 months and 74 countries have pledged to support the organization with 2.1 Billion expressing their support for Save Soil so far, basically.

At the World Environment Day event, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the ‘Save Soil Movement’ in VigyanBhawan on June 5 at 11 AM. The Prime Minister will also address the meeting during the program.

Recentlythe Gujarat government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Isha Outreach to save land in the province making Gujarat the first Indian country to officially join the Global Movement to Save Soil. The MOU was signed in the presence of Gujarat Prime Minister Shri. Bhupendrabhai Patel and Sadhguru, founder – Isha Foundation. Many cabinet members and government officials from the Department of Climate Change, Government. Gujarat were also present at the event in Ahmedabad. The Prime Minister spoke about the importance of land for survival and confirmed that “the Gujarat region will take the lead in conserving the soil and all the other vital species for our existence on this planet.”

Sadhguru expressed his delight that Gujarat was the first Indian country to sign the MoU and thanked the government for its response since its visit to 26 countries across Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East. Explaining the MoU he said, “this book has simple principles by which the government can formulate policy.” Normally the government should fix this idea and make a policy but, “we made a point for the government to make this policy faster,” he added.

The United Nations has predicted that 90% of the earth’s surface will turn into a desert by 2050, given the current rate of soil erosion. It poses a serious threat to water and food security. The story of the Indians is also shocking, when about 30 percent of the world has already been turned into an empty world. According to the average Indian soil content of 0.68 percent, it is at high risk of desertification. The river is zero in Isha’s Cauvery Calling – an eco-friendly organization founded by Sadhguru to show the river as a model for restoring the health of soil and water resources in tropical areas.
