Punjab Prime Minister Bhagwant Mann will tie the knot on the sofa for the second time on Thursday as the 48-year-old Aam Aadmi Party leader marries Dr Gurpreet Kaur at a private ceremony at his Chandigarh residence. Sources told PTI that the wedding was planned. The marriage will be solemnized according to Sikh customs in the country’s capital. Mann divorced his first wife with two children in 2015. Mann’s 21-year-old daughter Seerat and 17-year-old son Dilshan in their first marriage arrived by plane from the US while swearing in as prime minister of the Punjab.
Ministers Harpal Singh Cheema, Harjot Bains and Aman Arora and senior party leader Raghav Chadha congratulated Mann on Twitter. Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring also congratulated Mann as he embarked on a “new chapter in his life”.
Meet Dr. Gurpreet Kaur: the future wife of Punjab CM
- 32-year-old Gurpreet Kaur hails from a village in Pehowa in the Kurukshetra region of Haryana.
- His father Inderjit Singh Natt is a farmer. According to media reports, he has previously worked as a saranch of Madanpur village. Her mother is a homemaker.
- She is the youngest of three sisters in her family. People close to the family say the two older sisters live abroad.
- Dr Kaur did his MBBS at Maharishi Markandeshwar University (MMU) in Mullana about 4 years ago. He had signed up for MBBS in 2013 and concluded that by 2018, the family’s neighbors had told PTI.
- He is currently said to be working as a doctor.
- Neighbors of Gurpreet Kaur told reporters that she was affectionately called ‘Gopi’ and was a young woman with a kind, caring, intelligent heart. Many of the girls in the neighborhood said they were very happy that “GopiDidi” was getting married and that was the prime minister.
