After the leak vedio of 60 girls, massive protests lead by students demanding action against It

Following massive protests by students demanding action against the alleged leak of objectionable videos from his girls’ hostel, Chandigarh University authorities today suspended girls’ hostel warden Rajvinder Kaur for allegedly misbehaving with students. The university was also closed to students until Saturday.

A hostel warden who was seen in a viral video confronting an arrested girl accused of allegedly sending videos to men outside the university is said to have failed to immediately inform the police about the matter. She also allegedly scolded the girls when the students started the protest. So far, three people have been arrested in the case.

The accused girl and her boyfriend, a resident of Shimla, were arrested following massive protests by students. Twenty-three-year-old Sunny Mehta works in a travel agency. A second man who works in the bakery was also arrested. His role is not yet clear.

The students called off their protest early this morning after the district administration and the police assured them of a fair and transparent investigation into the allegations. Police last night said only four videos were found on the phone of a student accused of filming and posting obscene videos of girls at Punjab University in Mohali.

But they are all about this woman who she sent to her boyfriend, said Mohali’s top cop Navreet Singh Virk. There was also no suicide attempt at the university, as claimed by the protesting students. The videos they claim are being circulated are yet to be found, he added.

Chandigarh University students have refused to accept the police’s finding that there was no prima facie evidence that a student had taken obscene videos of other women in a hostel toilet. Protests broke out on the university campus over “rumors” that about 60 videos of several female students had been shot. The students alleged that the administration tried to cover up the suicide cases.

The police have repeatedly claimed that there were no suicide attempts and that they have so far found no other videos apart from the accused’s own recordings sent to her boyfriend. The university also said in an official statement that “no objectionable video of any students was recorded except for a personal video taken by the girl which she shared with her boyfriend”. “All rumors about inappropriate videos made by other female students are completely false and baseless,” said RS Bawa, Pro-Chancellor of Chandigarh University.
