Vice President addresses the 69th Convocation of Punjab University in Chandigarh

The Deputy President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu today stressed the need for Universities to give greater importance to patents that can be used under the rights of the Faculty to complement the economy and industry. He emphasized the need to focus on industry and institutionalization in order to achieve better research results.

Speaking at the 69th Convocation at Punjab University in Chandigarh today, the Vice President said we should step out of the dark and not be satisfied with what we have achieved. He also urged Panjab University to work towards securing positions at the top ten universities around the world.Shri Naidu wanted universities to continue to create an environment for continuous teacher development, and he asked members of the faculty to focus on critical research.

Emphasizing that Universities must be at the forefront of information transformation, through innovative approaches and state-of-the-art research, the Vice President called for closer collaboration between Universities and government to formulate sound policies.Advocating for quality education to be accessible and accessible to all, the Deputy President wanted such education to lead to a positive change in individual attitudes, social cohesion and inclusive national development. “The New India of our dreams will be built on new aspirations and skills. It will be based on the knowledge, skills and attitudes that we pass on to our classrooms and the new techniques that we promote in workshops and laboratories, ”he said.

National Education Policy 2020 ‘making Indianizing’

Emphasizing that education should change the way we look at our planet and the way we interact with other people, the Vice President said that our lives should be enlightened by the five good things of Guru Nanak Devji, namely – Sat (honest, true), Santokh (satisfaction), Daya (compassion) , Nimrata (humility) and Pyaar (love). I hope these principles will continue to inspire us to be better people, he added.The Vice President called on the students to use their knowledge to transform the world and work faster to address the many challenges we face as a nation. “Set yourself up, commit yourself to building a better future for yourself and the nation as a whole. Success and fulfillment will follow, ”he told the students.Acknowledging the National Education Policy 2020 ‘making Indianizing’ Indian education, Shri Naidu emphasized the need to provide primary education in the mother tongue. He also wanted the languages ​​of the people to be used as the language of administration, courts and legislatures.

Speaking on India’s census statistics, the Deputy President said with the right education and encouragement, our youth can succeed in any field and make the country proud. He urged the youth to work towards building a New India, a prosperous India, a happy and peaceful India. “This should be our goal,” he said.Explaining peace as a requirement for progress, Shri Naidu called on all universities to ensure that peace is maintained on campuses and to focus on academic achievement. Emphasizing the importance of unity and harmony in society, he said these values ​​should be instilled in young learners in our schools. “There should be no room for class distinctions, beliefs, religion and sexuality in the 21st century. We are all from the same country, India, ”he said.

Praising the University of Panjab for finding a place to be proud of the country’s higher education, Shri Naidu called it a University with a glorious past, a very present and a bright future. He also commended the University for the good performance of its students in sports.Expressing his satisfaction with the progress made by Panjab University in all aspects of higher education, Shri Naidu commended the Vice Chancellor of the University, the faculty members and members of the Senate for running the University so well. He expressed confidence that in the coming days, the University of Panjab will emerge as a leader in international education by creating collaborative research methods, innovations and cultural exchange programs, among others.

Yoga or sports

At the event, the Deputy President also presented the award to the Chief Scientific Adviser, Prof Ajay Kumar Sood and veterans of traditional medicine production, Dr Krishna Ella and SmtSuchitra Ella. In addition to them, the Panjab University Ratna Awards were awarded to Prof. JS Rajput in education, Acharya Kotecha in Indian medicine, Ms Rani Rampal in sports, Prof Jagbir Singh in literature, Shri Onkar Singh Pahwa in industry and Shri KhanduWangchukBhutia in the arts category. The Vice President thanked the University for honoring the incredible talent in all the rooms of India and hopes that other universities will follow suit.

In her speech, Shri Naidu also advised students to participate regularly in Yoga or sports to stay healthy.
