Shri Piyush Goyal today said that the world now sees India as an engine of economic growth

Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles Minister Shri Piyush Goyal today said that the world now sees India as an engine of economic growth. He was addressing a rally at Vyapari Udyami Sammelan in New Delhi today. Emphasizing that India enjoys the confidence of the world today, Shri Goyal said that developed countries are now keen to sign trade agreements with India. He added that before 2014, India’s economy was considered fragile and investors had doubts about doing business with India.

Emphasizing the need for transparency and ease of doing business, the minister assured traders and businessmen that the government would fully support traders who would oppose harassment by any authority. He urged traders to work with the government to reduce the compliance burden on people and businesses, but asked that they strictly adhere to ethical business practices. Unnecessary, burdensome and counterproductive laws and regulations must be removed to make business easier, he added.

He asked businessmen to give priority to the quality of goods and services offered by India. He also emphasized the need to encourage young people to come forward and infuse India’s growth story with youthful energy with new ideas. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s clarion call of “a voice for the local” must be embraced by the nation’s youth, the minister said. He added that we also need to encourage more and more women to become traders and entrepreneurs.

Applauding the visionary social policies of the Prime Minister, Shri Goyal said that these policies help the poor to become consumers and have successfully transformed India’s population into its greatest strength. He added that the prime minister’s tireless work has ensured that every household in the country has access to basic amenities such as cooking gas, drinking water, electricity and toilet, and every village has access to the Internet. Shri Goyal said that the Government’s policy has also given every Indian the courage to be ambitious and the confidence to aspire to become an entrepreneur.

The minister also emphasized that traders and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) should benefit from the demand for goods from the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s welfare schemes. He asked all businessmen, entrepreneurs and businesses, big and small, to take a collective commitment to work together to achieve the dream of an independent India by promoting more and more Indian products.
