SpaceX, through its Transporter-6 Mission, has installed a water-flying satellite made by American private space company Momentus Inc. in a designated orbit in space. And this satellite has been named Vigoride-5. In this way, this satellite is the first satellite to fly from water by a private company. Let us tell you about how water is used as fuel.
Since it runs on water, the work of giving energy to it is done by the technology of Water Plasma Thrusters. Vigoride 5 satellite has been deployed in the Earth’s Lower Earth Orbit. And after reaching the right position, the solar panels fitted in it have opened. Whose job is to create energy and charge the batteries. It is being told that this satellite has also been named Vigoride Orbital Service Vehicle (OSV). When the time comes, this satellite can also repair its service.
Water is being used as fuel in this satellite, for this, microwave electrothermal thrusters (MET) have been installed, water is filled in these thrusters, this water comes out as a gas from the nozzle made on it so fast that it gives speed. Plasma is formed from water in the mat, after which the energy generated is used to propel the satellite.
Let me remind you that even before this, NASA had launched a CubeSat named V-R3x from SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket. And this was also a satellite flying from water. These CubeSats were built to help with autonomous radio networking and navigation. For the technology used in this, when hydrogen and oxygen particles were broken from water in their propulsion system, then energy was generated from them. Hydrogen and oxygen particles can be broken down.
By the way, there is no toxicity in water. Due to which it is not flammable and water is more stable than other fuels. That’s why launching satellites with the help of such fuel can be beneficial because fuel is very expensive and there is no scope for any kind of damage from it. A water-powered satellite has reached space. This is the first satellite of its kind where water is being used as fuel. SpaceX launches Vigoride-5 satellite from Falcon-9 rocket under Transporter-6 mission. The satellite has now reached the designated orbit.
