National Cadet Corps (NCC) Bihar & Jharkhand Directorate participated as exhibitors during the 12th DefExpo in Gandhinagar

First, National Cadet Corps (NCC) Bihar & Jharkhand Directorate participated as exhibitors during the 12th DefExpo in Gandhinagar, Gujarat and showcased three advanced technology prototypes that showcase the power of the world’s largest uniformed youth organization. The three prototypes were:

UAV: Designed and developed by cadets, it is a versatile platform that can be used for tactical missions ranging from counter-insurgency/counter-terrorism operations to reconnaissance using remote-controlled cameras. It can also be used as a destroyer using GPS. The UAV is a highly economical version and can be easily manufactured for both training and defense purposes. Currently, the total weight of the UAV is 1 kg and it can carry a payload of about 0.7 kg. “The current version of the UAV can be well used for training army and air force personnel. We will come up with an improved version soon,” said UO Somya Garg, NCC, BIT Mesra and 4th Year Mechanical Engg. Student.

All-terrain vehicle: Developed and designed for all-terrain mobility, it is best suited for last-mile connectivity in extremely rugged terrain to transport ammunition and supplies, and can also be used for patrolling and search and destroy operations. It has features like independent all-wheel suspension and can withstand a six-foot free fall. The ATV is able to tow vehicles up to 1500 kg. “The vehicle can be used well for defense applications,” said Cdt. Harsh Rana, NCC, BIT Mesra and 4th Year Chemical Engg. Student.

“I am proud to be part of the ATV team and my participation in DefExpo 2022 will help me further upgrade ATV based on the requirement,” said Cdt Aditya Kumar, NCC, BIT Mesra and 2nd Year Mechanical Engg. Student

Hand Gesture Sensing BOT: A remote-controlled robot that can find a variety of military uses without exposing soldiers to the enemy. “I have received many compliments from a senior representative of the armed forces and the Ministry of Defense for the development of a hand gesture robot. I will definitely upgrade the current prototype to meet the requirements of the armed forces and commercialize this product,” said Cdt. Jainam Nahar, NCC, BIT Mesra and 2nd Year Electronics and Communication Engg. Student.

All these prototypes were exhibited to high dignitaries of the armed forces and the MoD. They showed great interest in the prototypes on display and appreciated the efforts of NCC Bihar and Jharkhand directorates for showcasing the talent of cadets at such an event. “Products developed at BIT Mesra, Ranchi were exhibited at DefExpo 2022. I congratulate and wish the cadets all the best,” said Shri Arjun Munda, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs.

“The first showcase of innovations by NCC cadets at the prestigious DefExpo 2022 confirms their technological potential to support the vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ through indigenous R&D. NCC is uniquely positioned to become an interface between the military, academic students and research institutes,” said Major General Indrabalan, ADG NCC B&J. “I am proud that NCC cadets have come up with such a useful innovative product and showcased it at DefExpo 2022. I am sure that their innovation will not only address defense requirements but will also be useful for social needs. ”, said Shri Sudhir K Mishra, Former CMD, Brahmos.

“BIT Mersa is delighted that NCC has provided such a great platform for student innovation.
