NASA pushed back the launch date of the Artemis 1 Moon rocket for its third attempt

After two failed attempts, NASA on Monday pushed back the launch date of the Artemis 1 Moon rocket for its third attempt from September 23rd to September 27th. Artemis 1 was scheduled to launch “no earlier than Friday, September 23 at 6:47 a.m. EDT (1047 GMT)” from Launch Complex 39B at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. However, the Artemis 1 lunar rocket will now be grounded for at least four more days. Artemis 1 should have been up by now. After two failed attempts, all eyes will now be on September 27 to see if the third time is the charm for NASA. NASA mission to the moon postponed again:

• NASA first attempted to launch the mission on August 29, but a problem with one engine caused the space agency to delay the launch of its next-generation rocket ship. The mission team soon traced the problem to a faulty temperature sensor and readied SLS and Orion for another attempt on September 3.

• On September 3, NASA made a second attempt to launch the Artemis-1 mission, but it was scrubbed soon after engineers discovered leaks on the launch vehicle during refueling.

• On the third attempt, NASA searched on September 23rd. However, the agency announced in a blog post on Monday that the earlier date is no longer in play and iti is now targeting September 27 for the Artemis 1 launch.

• For the September 27 date, “the 70-minute launch window will open at 11:37 a.m. EDT (9:07 p.m. IST),” while the mission will end on November 5 with the impact of the Orion capsule in the ocean. A potential next date is coming up on October 2nd.

• Over the weekend, Artemis I teams “completed repair work on the hydrogen leak, reattached the grounding and rocket side plates on the liquid hydrogen fuel quick coupler, where two seals were replaced last week.” NASA explained the cause of the delay in a blog post. “This week the teams will carry out tests under ambient conditions to ensure there is a tight connection between the two plates before they are tested again during the cryogenic refueling demonstration and preparations for the test will begin,” he added.
