NASA going to launch its Artemis 1 lunar megarocket in November

NASA said it will try to launch its Artemis 1 lunar megarocket in November, which was delayed earlier as massive Hurricane Ian hit Florida this week. The space agency said it is preparing another launch window between Nov. 12 and Nov. 27, without committing to an exact date.

Here are the best updates on NASA’s Artemis 1 launch:

1. “Over the coming days,” NASA said, it will assess the conditions and the necessary work and “determine a specific date for the next launch attempt.”

2. While Hurricane Ian devastated parts of Florida, the rocket itself suffered no damage, NASA said.

3. The November launch window will provide “time for personnel at Kennedy to deal with the needs of their families and homes after the storm,” NASA added.

4. “The facilities are in good condition, with only a few spots showing minor water intrusion,” the space agency said.

5. The hurricane-related return followed two other Artemis 1 launch delays, the first due to an engine problem and the second due to a hydrogen leak.

6. Artemis, NASA’s new flagship program, will be used to ensure that the Orion capsule on top of the rocket is safe to carry crew to the moon in the future.

7. The 98-meter-tall (320-foot) rocket is the most powerful ever designed by NASA and is located at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
